Thomas Tallis is a flourishing and popular school situated in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. In 2011 we moved to a new £52 million building with state of the art facilities and infrastructure.  We have 2000 pupils on the school roll including over 750 students currently in our highly competitive sixth form.

Teacher of Geography

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: September 2026
 
This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving Geography department where staff are supported to develop as expert geographers and confident classroom practitioners. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Geography to join a large, high-performing and collaborative Geography department within our award-winning faculty.
 
Geography at Tallis is a larger-than-average secondary department, made up of colleagues with a wide range of experience, from early career teachers to highly experienced practitioners. Geography is a very popular GCSE and A Level choice for our students. Many of our Geography teachers take on additional responsibilities within the school and beyond, reflecting the strength of the department and the professional capital of the team.
 
Our curriculum, “Geography to understand the world and change it for the better”, was recently awarded the Bernice McCabe Award 2023, recognising the quality of our curriculum thinking and classroom practice. This success is rooted in a strong, supportive departmental culture, where collaboration, subject expertise and professional growth are prioritised. The Geography department is fully resourced, including access to IT equipment that enables students to engage meaningfully with GIS across key stages.
 
We have a proven track record of mentoring and supporting ECTs, with structured coaching, high-quality CPD and carefully planned induction. Lessons are centrally planned to minimise workload and provide clear pedagogical support, allowing teachers to focus on what matters most: excellent teaching and learning.
 
ECTs are very welcome to apply and will receive a full induction programme with the support and guidance of senior members of staff.

  • can demonstrate excellent teaching and classroom management skills

SEN Exams Admin Officer

Grade: Scale 5 (Actual Salary: £28,359 - £29,625 pa)

Contract: Full time, 35 hours per week, term-time only (39 weeks)

Start date: ASAP

We wish to appoint a full time SEN Exams Admin Officer to join our inclusive and dedicated team. This is a key role supporting the administration of exam access arrangements for students with special educational needs. You will work closely with the Exams Team, SENDCO, DSENDCO KS4/5 and Inclusion Officers to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed in formal assessments.

We are looking for someone who has:
• excellent organisational and administrative skills
• a professional, kind and calm manner
• the ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams
• competence in using ICT systems

Teacher of Science

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: April 2026 or September 2026
 
We wish to appoint a first class Science Teacher to join a well-established, well-resourced and successful faculty.  Ideally we are looking for someone who is able to teach science across Key Stages 3 and 4.  The opportunity to teach KS5 physics and chemistry is available for the right candidate. The faculty employs a range of dynamic learning styles and is committed to innovative and creative curriculum development. You will be part of a strong science department with excellent support and facilities.

Education Assistant (English)

Grade: Scale 5 (Actual Salary: £26,333 to £27,508 pa)

Contract: 32.5 hours per week; 8.15am – 3.30pm; Term-time only

Start Date: ASAP
 
We wish to appoint an Education Assistant to support the teaching of English.  You will assist teachers in devising lesson plans and supporting SEND students in small groups and 1:1 sessions.  In particular, this role would suit someone who would like experience within a school setting prior to considering teacher training.  The school wants to recruit staff who want to do the very best that they can to help make a difference to the learning of students.
 
We are looking for someone who has:

  • a good quality degree
  • confidence, resilience with excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Interest in the fields of English language and literature
  • experience of working with secondary age children and young people
  • a professional, kind and calm manner
