How to help your Year 11 student revise

Please find linked a presentation that goes through simple techniques on how to revise. We have been using this with the students for over a year. There are helpful videos and other tools to support with revision.

We do recommend they make a revision timetable, this can be made either on paper or by using: https://getrevising.co.uk. Here is an example plan.

Students also have access to Sparx for Maths and GCSEPod for content revision. Please find these links opposite. We will regularly update this section with what to revise and help hints and tips. Please pop back for updates.

What to revise - a quick guide

Please click the button below to view a subject revision guide. This contains links to various resources and revision materials. The document has been emailed to the students.
Year 11 MOCK REVISION GUIDE

Homework

All students are expected to complete two hours a night of homework and revision. If your students only has one subject for homework they should be using a revision timetable to complete 1-2 other subjects revision. This should be broken down into units for example, 30 minutes of Biology - Cells and then 30 minutes of English- Romeo and Juliet. This is where organising what they need to learn and then planning really helps. We are here to support with this. All homework is set on My Child at School or Bromcom.

Intervention

Please see the timetable for intervention opposite. We have written to you about which interventions your child should attend. If your child is not nominated they may still attend. We will chase up non attendance to intervention. They are not catch-up sessions, but provide the essential skills and knowledge for success in your child's KS4 subjects.

Study Hall

Students can access support in the lunchtime Study Hall every day. A member of staff is always present in 1.3.16. Please encourage your child to attend if they are struggling with homework. This is a quiet space they can use for supported independent study

Curriculum and Extension tasks

We will be providing extended reading and revision resources. This is currently under construction.
