Attendance & Punctuality expectations
- Students must arrive at school by 8.30 each morning.
- Students in years 7 to 11 are not allowed off site at any time during the school day - this includes lunchtime.
- Absence and lateness must be notified to the school via [email protected]. Please remember to include your child’s full name, tutor group and reason for absence in the message and send from your registered email address. Absence due to illness should be notified by 8:00 on the day of absence, and each consecutive day unless informed otherwise.
- Medical or other appointments should be made outside school hours whenever possible. If students have to leave school during the day for any reason, parents must let us know via email to [email protected] together with supporting evidence (you can also hand evidence in at reception).
- Students must sign OUT via reception.
- Parents and carers do not have the right to take a child out of school during term time. The Headteacher may authorise such leave of absences in exceptional circumstances. Any such absence must be requested by the completion and submission of this form. Exceptional circumstances may include a one off, never to be repeated occasion e.g. a close family wedding or funeral.
Tallis Attendance Support
Excellent attendance is a fundamental key to educational success. The graphic below demonstrates the impact of poor attendance on the GCSES grades of our students. As well affecting academic performance, erratic attendance significantly impacts upon social development and interaction.
Like all schools we have a responsibility to ensure that our students are kept safe, and the most effective way for us to do this is to see them on a daily basis. To support us in this all parents and carers have a legal duty to ensure regular school attendance.
There are 4 stages of Attendance Support at Tallis and they can be seen in more detail in the diagram below. These stages are graduated to identify attendance difficulties early and provide the appropriate support to students and parents required address them.
