KEY STAGE 4 RESULTS 2016
At Thomas Tallis we are committed to excellence for all our students. We want them to be respected, loved and nurtured and at the same time challenged and empowered to reach beyond the circumstances of their birth. We believe that all students can learn and that ability is not fixed. We challenge all our young people so that they can reach the highest academic standards while developing a love of learning to sustain them through their lives. The Tallis Habits of Mind and Tallis Character are the glue that binds this together; the learning dispositions that allow all our young people to move from the known to the unknown, to understand the world and change it for the better.
We are delighted to celebrate the exceptional results of young people as an example of our happy and exciting community at Tallis. We value education to understand the world and change it for the better, and enjoy sharing these important successes with our young people. We're excited to be enrolling hundreds of new sixth form students this week and look forward to welcoming our new bigger year 7 as we embark on another year with the Tallis Habits.

We had 58% 5A*-C including English and Maths, 68% overall 5 A* to C and 18% A*-A. Whilst we had more than 10% increase last year in 5GCSEs including maths and English, school's key indicator is progress 8 (the progress made in their best 8 subjects). For this, we are broadly in line with the national average at -0.05, but for students actually taught at Tallis we are above the national average at +0.08.
We commend the amazing hard work of our young people that has enabled this success, and look forward eagerly to the year ahead. Despite a turbulent last few years, these results represent our commitment to the learning, progress, creativity and personal development of all of our young people, now and in the future.

POST 16 RESULTS 2016
Another year of outstanding achievement for both academic and vocational students at this high-achieving mixed comprehensive school.
Over 230 students took A2 or BTEC exams at Thomas Tallis in 2016, slightly up on 2015.
20% of A-level students obtained A*/A grades, and 50% achieved A*-B grades. 77% of BTEC students obtained D* grades or better.
Tallis BTEC students did superbly: 11 achieved D*D*D* (or better!)
There were many astonishing individual performances: Ben Tu (A*A*A - Maths with Statistics at Imperial College), Maeve Thomas (A*AA - Sociology at Leeds), Sian Newlove-Drew (A*A*AA - Art Foundation at Camberwell), Brandon Kalsi (D*D*D* - Essex for Sports and Exercise Science), Tal Drozdovsky (AAA - Biomedical Sciences at King’s), Branwen Onono (AAA - History at Birmingham), Joe Powley (A*AA - Classics at Edinburgh), Priyanka Acharaya (A*AAA - Chemical Engineering at Bath), Ben Edgar (D*D*D* - UEA for Business), Anisha Namuli (D*D*D* - Occupational Therapy at Brunel).
Our musicians have done very well. Emily James is going to Leeds University and Jane Hammond is off to study at the Royal College of Music.
Over 190 Tallis students are progressing to higher education with very many going to Russell Group, top ten and specialist universities such as the LSE, SOAS, King’s, UCL, Sheffield, Manchester, Warwick, Bath and Surrey. 35 students are taking up places at prestigious art colleges, including Camberwell, LCC, St Martin’s and Ravensbourne.

Like the rest of the school, our sixth form is an exciting and happy place. Our focus on learning through inquisitiveness, persistence, collaboration, discipline and imagination as well as their experience in a large comprehensive school gives our students an added advantage as they embark on the next stage in their lives. They leave us rounded and grounded, ready to change the world for the better.
